Directly from Salento, the unmistakable and captivating sound of pizzica arrives at the Villa Corridi theater: they are the Officina Zoè and since 1993 they have been ambassadors throughout the world of this great Mediterranean folk tradition. Not only the big festivals, stages, and theaters all over Europe: the six of them have played and made thousands of people dance even in Egypt, Turkey, Argentina, Albania, and even in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Seoul, and New Delhi. Fathers of Salento music, they have always been in search of trance and cyclicity: an almost obsessive search that they manage to transmit to the audience with great energy, the skillful use of singing and tambourines, and their trademark, melodic and harmonic minimalism. For their 30th anniversary, they will bring to the stage Ipnotica, a dreamlike show enriched with light, image, and sound effects that will accompany the band’s traditional repertoire. The key to the project is the encounter with electronic music, not to create a contemporary sound mix, but to make a journey in the opposite direction and return to the origin of time. With ten albums to their credit (Terra, Sangue Vivo, Miracolo, Crita, Live in Japan, Maledetti guai, Taranta Nera, Mamma Sirena, Live in India, Incontri Live), Officina Zoè is composed of Cinzia Marco (vocals, flutes, and tamburello), Donatello Pisanello (diatonic accordion, guitar, mandola, mouth harmonica), Lamberto Probo (tamburello, tamborra, Salento percussion), Silvia Gallone (tamburello, vocals), Giorgio Doveri (violin, mandola), Luigi Panico (guitar, mandola, mouth harmonica). For the Ipnotica show, the band’s lineup is integrated with electronic productions by Manu PHL, who is already the group’s sound engineer.
