How to get to Livorno

To reach Livorno by air

The nearest international airport is “Galileo Galilei” in Pisa (which is 18 km from Livorno). From Pisa Airport, you can take a taxi, rent a car, or go to Pisa Central Train Station using the Pisa Moover. From there, a 20-minute train ride will take you to Livorno Central Station. The “Amerigo Vespucci” international airport in Florence is 80 km from Livorno. To travel from the airport to Florence Central Station, you can take tram line T2. From Santa Maria Novella station, there are direct trains to Livorno Central Station every half hour.


To reach Livorno by train

Livorno is located on the Rome – Genoa main railway line and is connected by frequent trains in both directions. It is reachable directly from Florence by direct trains, with a travel time of about one hour and thirty minutes.


To reach Livorno by car

From the A12 Genoa-Livorno-Rosignano motorway and A11-A12 Florence-Pisa-Livorno motorways (both connected to the A1 and Brenner – via A1), take the “Livorno centro” exit. Livorno is also directly connected to the Florence-Pisa-Livorno expressway.


To reach Livorno by sea

Many direct ferry routes exist to Barcelona, Bastia, Golfo Aranci, Olbia, Palermo, and Porto Vecchio. Many cruise ships stop in Livorno for at least a full day to allow guests to tour Florence and/or Pisa. Cruise ship guests who are not participating in excursions can take a shuttle (provided by the port) to the downtown area of Livorno.
