Moments of pure wonder

If you are planning a visit to Livorno, the Terrazza Mascagni is a must-see. Full of life, this beautiful liberty-style checkered paved square is a real extension of the city towards its sea, which will offer you, depending on the hour, the day, the weather and the wind, a touching and always different panorama of the Tuscan Archipelago and the Meloria shoals.

Not just a monument, but a real belvedere from which to appreciate the seductive light of this wonderful city perched on the waves; especially for photography enthusiasts, especially at sunset, when the sky is tinged with intense shades of red and gold, drawing unique scenarios in the world.

If, when leaving, a piece of your heart will forever remain prisoner of that myriad of black and white tiles, do not be surprised, it happens to almost everyone.

Generations of memories: the eternal charm of the terrace

Begun in the early twentieth century and named after the Livorno composer Pietro Mascagni, author of the famous opera Cavalleria Rusticana, the Terrace continues to be a meeting place for entire generations of Livornese people. Constantly damaged by violent storms, at the end of the 1990s it was completely restored, with the restoration of green areas and the faithful reconstruction of the music gazebo, where small concerts are held in summer, sometimes impromptu.

For the people of Livorno, the Terrace Mascagni has always been a place filled with emotions and memories, witness to significant moments in life. Every tile tells a story: the first steps accompanied by grandparents, the first hand-in-hand walks, the laughs among friends after school, the promises of love, the games, the summer ice creams, the moments of inspiration with a gaze lost on the horizon.

The beauty around

All around the Mascagni Terrace is pure beauty. The Bagni Pancaldi, one of the oldest seaside resorts in Europe, the Grand Hotel Palazzo with its timeless charm, the Piazza di San Jacopo in Acquaviva and its ancient church that hides a crypt wrapped in legends and tales. And then the Baracchina Bianca, which offers tasty refreshment with a sea view near the prestigious Naval Academy.

Before leaving the Mascagni Terrace, also remember to visit the Livorno Aquarium. You can enjoy a fantastic journey to discover the creatures and Mediterranean marine environments, which also includes a fascinating reptile house.
