Effetto Venezia

Effetto Venezia is the summer festival of Livorno. An annual event that transforms the Venezia Nuova district into an open-air stage, lively and colorful. For five days, during the first week of August, the streets and canals of the neighborhood come alive with lights, colors, and handicraft and antique stalls. The evenings are embellished with an extraordinary variety of free shows, from rock music to street theater to dance performances, making every corner of the neighborhood lively and vibrant. Guaranteed fun for all ages, perhaps paired with tasting typical dishes and local specialties in the festive atmosphere that also infects the local restaurants.

Straborgo

For four days, at the beginning of June, Straborgo, one of the most anticipated festivals by young people in Tuscany, turns the Borgo Cappuccini neighborhood into a lively and pulsating stage of music and art. Free concerts by established and emerging musicians alternate with photo exhibitions, screenings, markets, and street performances that offer a unique and engaging experience within one of Livorno’s historic districts. And as the evening falls, before the festival lights turn on, Piazza Mazzini and the surrounding streets become an unmissable opportunity to savor the flavors of tradition, creatively and passionately offered by local restaurants.

The Mascagni Festival

The Mascagni Festival, which has its peak in the month of August, right in the splendid setting of the Terrazza Mascagni, is a spectacular celebration of the musical heritage of Pietro Mascagni. In this fascinating scenario, the works of the Livornese composer come back to life, transporting the audience to the places that inspired the maestro. The festival is not limited to operatic activity only, but offers a complete cultural experience, full of performances, concerts, and educational events.

The International Sailing Week

Sailing and sea lovers, get ready to live an unforgettable experience during the International Sailing Week of the city of Livorno. An event that celebrates, in the month of April, the long sailing tradition of Livorno. The competition, which involves the Naval Academy and the city sailing clubs, was born in 1981 with the “Centennial Regatta” and has evolved over the years to become a fixed appointment for European sailors and beyond. Many classes are admitted to the extensive program of competitions, which also include the spectacular Naval Academy Regatta, one of the longest in the Mediterranean, a breathtaking route of over 600 miles.

Sport White Night

Since 2023, the city of Livorno celebrates sport in all its forms with The Sport White Night. The event is organized by the Lem Foundation on behalf of the Municipality of Livorno, in collaboration with the Provincial Committee of CONI, which has involved all sports federations. The event became a reality in Livorno, the city of sports par excellence, thanks to champions who have excelled in various disciplines: from football to fencing, from athletics to rugby, from basketball to martial arts and many more. Through demonstrations, talks, installations for sports practice, concerts, and DJ sets, the event offers young people and adults the opportunity to engage in various disciplines in an atmosphere of joy, for an evening dedicated to energy and passion for sports.
