A tribute to the artistic legacy of Carlo Servolini
A tribute to the artistic legacy of Carlo Servolini
In the heart of Collesalvetti, a small museum gem awaits art lovers: the Pinacoteca Comunale Carlo Servolini (Livorno 1876 – Collesalvetti 1948). An exhibition space, also serving as the venue for temporary exhibitions, inaugurated in 2007 to enhance the artistic legacy of the Livorno painter and engraver Carlo Servolini through a collection of works donated to the municipality by his son Luigi.
In the first room, you will be greeted by the captivating etchings of the artist, splendid examples of Servolini’s mastery and touch that offer an intimate introduction to his world, inviting visitors to fully immerse themselves in his vision.
Moving on, the central corridor transforms into a gallery that instead celebrates a recent golden age of Italian art. Here, works created between the 1950s and 1960s by artists such as Renato Guttuso, Domenico Purificato, Gastone Breddo, Corrado Carmassi, Remo Gordigiani, Anacleto Margotti, and Giancarlo Cocchia will provide you with an eclectic overview of the artistic trends of that period.
The third room, on the other hand, pays homage to other artists from Livorno and Tuscany, a gathering of selected works that reflect the change and evolution of the Macchiaioli art movement from the late 19th century to the early 20th century: from Renato Natali to Guglielmo Micheli, from Giovanni Lomi to Giovanni March.
